Headshot Tips and Tricks
There are two types of portrait headshots. There is the business and there is the casual look. Depending on which look you are going for there are some suggestions listed below.
Bring your favorite outfit so you feel the most comfortable and alive. Something about wearing our favorite outfits can bring out the best in us because we chose that combination.
1. Color
Although many prefer to use solid colors it can change by the type of shoot. Designs can showcase your features based on the patterns. Everything you wear creates lines that can accentuate or lead away the image.

2. Headshot Makeup
Even if you don’t use makeup it’s always recommended to apply a good foundation at least. Popular brands that work are Sephora, Macy’s Nordstrom etc. Post production can soften your face but nothing beats preparation.
3. The Shoot
To lighten the load music can be provided to make you feel at ease. If you have a preferred soundtrack let me know. Lastly remember this is your shoot so if you feel more comfortable solo or with family and friends please be clear and invite what you may need.

4. Character
Everyone has seen professional headshots before and if not think of your favorite actor. What looks did they pull off that may work for you. Is there anyone that you look up to?
5. Sqwinch
Photos are alluring because of certain dynamics. The Squinch is one of them. Your face tells a story and if you provide a slight squint in your eyes it can really improve your photos. That doesn’t mean to squint, a sqwinch is similar but not the same. IT’s a slight squint to provide movement in the eyes.
